The state's highest court will hear the appeal Wednesday of a man convicted of killing a Manchester police officer.
Michael Addison was found guilty in 2008 of capital murder and given the death penalty for shooting and killing Manchester Police Officer Michael Briggs in 2006. It was the state's first death penalty sentence in seven decades.
The state Supreme Court will decide whether the outcome was constitutionally correct. Arguments are expected to last most of the day as the court tackles a variety of issues. One overarching question will be how the court should proceed in hearing a death penalty case.
