Spalding University and First African American Sorority To Honor Women Entrepreneurs/Leaders

LOUISVILLE, KY - On Monday, October 8, 2012, Spalding University College of Education Spalding University College of Education Leadership Education Doctoral Program and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA), Eta Omega Chapter will honor four female business owners for their outstanding achievements. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the College of Education Mansion West, 851 South Fourth Street, Louisville, KY 40203. Judge Erica Lee Williams, Jefferson District Court, will be the guest speaker.

The event is sponsored by the Economic Security Initiatives (ESI) Committee of the Eta Omega chapter and the Spalding University College of Education.

"Women who seek to improve the quality of life for others, as well as themselves, always deserve recognition,? said Sherrie Bethea, president of AKA Eta Omega chapter. ?We are proud to spotlight the drive, ambition, and level of professionalism they demonstrate. Supporting the financial success of women in business is vital to the legacy we will leave for our families."

Dr. Rita Greer, Coordinator of Advanced Graduate Education Programs at SU states ?Spalding University?s Leadership Education Doctoral Program (EDD) is proud to again partner with AKA in honoring these outstanding entrepreneurs.? The EDD program?s mission is to identify, educate and support emergent leaders, like these women, to become broad based leaders in our community. Spalding stands ready to assist these individuals in further developing their leadership skills and talents. We truly believe in ?Transforming Today?s Leaders for Tomorrow?s World.?
The 2012 honorees are:

??Tangy Hunter-Hughes ? owner/operator of House of Hope, Kentucky, est. 2006.? House of Hope is a non-profit home for women recovering from drug addiction.

??Tawana Hughes ? owner/operator of Tawana Hughes Builder, LLC, est. 2004.? The company is a full service housing developer and remodeler and certified MBE/MBW.

??Kimberly Milton-Jenkins ? owner/operator of Indulge! Catering, est. 2004.? Indulge! Is an approved caterer whose clients include the University of Louisville and the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage.

??Tierra Turner-owner/operator of TKT Associates, est. 2006.? TKT provides innovative supplier participation and workforce diversity consultation to clients
